Warren & Emily Swan → Trips

Since we were married in 1982 we have always tried to take a 2 week trip each summer. Some were only 1 week, a couple of them were 3 weeks, and some years we didn’t make it because of babies arriving, sale of home, etc. Intermixed with these standard trips we have also taken periodic 2-week trips to Florida Everglades National Park to get away from the snow and ice. (These started in Warren’s family when he was a teenager.)

These do not include week-end camp-outs.  We tent-camped all of the earlier trips through 1998, then we bought a pop-up tent trailer.  Starting with our second trip in 2005 we abandoned trailer camping and went back to tent camping.  In 2016 we bought a truck camper “shell” for our Tacoma on our California trip, and then fitted it out as a bedroom only.

Originally these were called Vacation Trips, but technically, after Warren’s retirement in September 2016, they are just Trips, since no “vacation from work” is required to go on a trip!  But we’ve kept the misnomer in some places.

*Who = Warren, Emily, Olive, Heidi, Daniel, Amy

**We had spent very little time in the Ozarks until this trip.  God put it into both of our minds to come here.  Then He moved us here the next summer!
