Warren & Emily SwanTrips → 2013 C&TS and RMNP

This vacation may sound like a repeat of the 2011 vacation, but only the states were repeated, and one main attraction.  We had two primary goals on this trip.  In 2011 we took the northeastern half of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad excursion train, but the southwest half was unavailable because of a bridge being out.  So this trip we took the ride from Chama, NM up to Osier.

On the way to our second goal, we decided to deflect over to the Royal Gorge, which we had visited back on our 1990 vacation.  But this time we would be in the bottom looking up, as we took the Royal Gorge Scenic Railroad, our second of 3 train rides on this trip.

Our second goal was to spend several days at Rocky Mountain National Park, which we had also visited on our 1990 trip.

Everything outside of our 2 main goals were things we thought of as we went.  After leaving Rocky Mountain National Park, we revisited another 1990 trip entertainment, the Georgetown Loop Railroad.  This was our third time on this excursion train, and the first time that Warren wasn’t riding on the engine.

Here are some of the other things we did on the return leg of the trip:

We found 2 geocaches in Chama, NM and 3 geocaches near Estes Park, CO.
